Description: Alazani Valley – Red Semi Sweet Wine, produced 100% from Saperavi grape variety that is grown in a specific zone of one of the traditional high quality wine making regions; “Alazani Valley” called after the river Alazani in Kakheti region. Due to the warmer temperature in the valley grapes have natural sweetness. The high quality of wine in the Alazani Valley micro-zone is conditioned by the carbonate soils and the micro climate that dominates in this zone. These conditions help preserve the acidity even after the grape has ripened, which is essential when making high-quality wines. The grapes in this zone are quite ripe, which is an important quality for this particular wine and allows a higher extraction level.
Grape Variety: Saperavi grape is the leading red variety in Georgia, Saperavi (sah-per-ah-vee) is indigenous to the country. Deep in fruit character, yet brisk with acidity, this gutsy grape presents a unique alternative to everyday reds. Georgia is known as one of the oldest wine-making regions of the world, Saperavi grape variety is one of the oldest cultivars from the region, and has consistently been the most important in Georgia’s commercial wine-making industry. Saperavi reflects a deep, inky and often fully opaque color. It is one of the few teinturier—red skin and red flesh—grape varieties in the world. This varietal has aromas and flavors of dark berries, licorice, grilled meat, tobacco, chocolate and spices.
